Customized Champagne Glasses
Are you looking for customized champagne glasses for the toasts at your wedding? Have you discovered how expensive it can be to purchase customized champagne glasses? You may have been to stores like Things Remembered to look at their selection of customized champagne glasses, but then you may also have been discouraged by how costly they are (especially when you add the customization). Why not make your own champagne glasses, customized by you?!
Here's how to make your own customized champagne glasses:
Purchase inexpensive champagne glasses. Here are a couple of websites that offer champagne flutes and wine goblets at relatively low prices (hint: search on "stemware"):
Decide what type of customization you would like on your champagne glasses. For example:
Floral Wrap around base
Names and Date
Decorative (wedding colors or theme)
Head to your local craft store (such as Michaels, Hobby Lobby, Joann Fabrics) to purchase the items necessary for your customization, such as:
Silk Flowers to hot glue or wire onto glass
Glass paint
Embossing powder
Frosted Glass finish
To add floral decorations to your customized champagne glasses, simply hot glue silk flowers or use some wire to wrap them around the base of the glasses. You could also use fresh flowers and floral wire to accomplish the same affect.
To emboss your customized champagne glasses, read our Cost-Effective Bride article on embossing and follow the same technique with your glasses. To emboss your names and date, you will need a small paintbrush or toothpick to place the embossing ink on the glasses before adding the powder.
To paint your champagne glasses, be sure to purchase a paint that will adhere to glass. You should wash the glasses first with soap and water and may want to use a glass surface conditioner before painting. You can also follow these tips for painting on glass.
To add a frosted look to your glasses, spray frosted glass finish on the area you would like to frost.
I hope these tips help you to create unique and inexpensive customized champagne glasses for your wedding!
